| Italy is home for five of EPI's European installations. Our system
located in Mantova, owned by the Cartiere Burgo Paper Mill, is the first fluidized bed
combustor in Italy to burn paper sludge. AREA, an Italian municipality located in
Ravenna, is the owner of the second combustion system. This installation, which is
powered by refuse derived fuel (RDF), is part of Italy's commitment to find alternative sources
for waste disposal, and energy generation. This system, and its technology were the
focus of Solid Waste Technologies cover story, in the May/June 1999 issue.
