3.2 MWe Fluidized Bed Power Plant OwnerCartier Burgo Project Location Project Completion Project Description New paper sludge from the mill and reclaimed paper sludge from the existing landfill is converted into usable energy in the EPI fluidized bed combustion system The waste-to-energy system supplies 46 MBtu/hr (48.5 GJ/hr) to a waste-heat style, superheated steam generator. Superheated steam powers a 3.2 MWe turbine/generator set. The EPI energy system at the Burgo facility meets stringent air emissions requirements established by the plant operating permit. This unique system uses selective noncatalytic reduction to reduce NOx emissions by as much as 75%, well below levels achievable with other competing grate or suspension technologies. Emissions of other pollutants such as SOx, CO and VOC's are also inherently low in the EPI energy system. Scope of Supply EPI supplies the fluidized bed combustion system, NOx abatement, bed additive system, bed recycle system, and the process design for the entire boiler island.
