Energy Products of Idaho (EPI) is an engineering company with
worldwide experience designing and fabricating energy systems. Many of
our projects in the US are in non-attainment areas requiring lowest
achievable emission rate (LAER) abatement. EPI has developed selective
non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) technology for our solid fuel boilers and
innovative selective catalytic reduction (SCR) applications for retrofit
of gas fired turbines. In California’s South Coast NOx offsets have
risen from $3.00/lb to upwards of $40.00/lb, stimulating older gas
turbines sites not equipped with the latest NOx reduction technology to
consider retrofit. For these applications EPI brings innovative design
and fabrication experience to retrofit SCR in the tightest footprints
with the lowest pressure drop possible.
Retrofit of permitted boilers and turbines to lower NOx emissions are
not subject to BACT analysis. The units can be permitted for
installation of NOx abatement equipment to yield a reasonable reduction.
This reduction is continuously monitored and counts as NOx offsets which
the facility can use as needed, or sold at the prevailing rate.
Considering the trend of NOx offset cost, retrofit of existing equipment
has a rapid payback.
If you have a boiler or gas turbine that needs some environmental
help, let EPI’s more than 30 years of experience provide a solution that fits
the existing site. Our project goals are:
Design a retrofit that achieves the greatest NOx reduction
within the space available for the modification.
Construct the majority of the retrofit in large modules to
minimize field installation time.
Install necessary foundations and peripheral equipment prior to
shut down of boiler or turbine to minimize downtime.
Assemble an experienced installation team that will work
around-the-clock to complete the retrofit and tune for performance
within hours after the initial shut down.
Compliance test the project to prove guaranteed emissions
reductions.
