Project Description
The fluid bed power plant can produce 28 megawatts (gross) electricity. The facility utilizes fuels consisting of almond tree prunings, rice straw, wheat straw, cotton stalks, and urban/demolition waste.
The plant provides for on-site storage and handling of the agri-waste and conveyance to an EPI fluidized bed boiler system.

Particulate removal is accomplished in a mechanical collector followed by a baghouse. Flue gas recycle and ammonia and limestone injection into the fluid bed combustor are provided for simultaneous control of hydrocarbon, NOx and SOx emissions, and to handle varied fuel heating characteristics.

Fluor-Daniel Company served as EPC contractor for the project. TIC was the equipment erector.

Scope of Supply

EPI designed, fabricated and commissioned the fluid bed boiler system beginning with the fuel metering bins and interfacing at the exit of the fluid bed combustion system. The steam generation system, designed for 260,000 pounds per hour at 900 psi and 850 F, includes a forced circulation loop that supplies all the boiler evaporation surface as well as bed/vapor space heat transfer surface within the combustion chamber.
